The question isn't 'who's going to let me' it's 'who's going to stop me'?" -Ayn Rand
Hey! What’s up? I’m Clara Vee — a singer, songwriter, pianist, and the lead vocalist/keytarist for the Cornbread Junkies, based in the mountains of Western North Carolina.
I’ve loved performing for as long as I can remember. Growing up, I was inspired by powerful girl groups, strong vocalists, and yes — even Disney’s Cheetah Girls era — the kind of music that made you believe anything was possible if you sang it loud enough. That early spark became the foundation of the artist I am today.
For several years, I performed on luxury cruise ships, traveling the world and turning piano bars into late-night spaces filled with connection, stories, and music. In 2024, shortly after ending a contract and preparing for the next, my life took a sharp turn when I was diagnosed with ALL (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia). I stepped off the ships and came to North Carolina to undergo treatment — a journey that reshaped me both personally and artistically.
I’m grateful to now be in remission, and that experience deepened my relationship with music in a way nothing else ever has. It became my grounding force, my creative fuel, and the place I returned to as I rebuilt my life.
Today, I’m rooted here in North Carolina, performing at local favorites like Old Barn Winery, Red Dog, and many other venues across the region. I’m writing new original music, leading the Cornbread Junkies, and shaping a sound that blends soul, country, rock, and R&B — influenced by everywhere I’ve been and everything I’ve overcome.
Whether you found me through a live show, my band, my original music, or even from a night in a piano bar somewhere out at sea… welcome. This chapter means the world to me, and I’m just getting started.
